West Indian legend Alvin Kalicharan joins Osterley

“Proof positive that small can be beautiful in Test cricket. He had poise, balance, orthodoxy, a full range of strokes off either foot, and a bat that because of its size relative to him, appeared far too large to a generation of hapless bowlers”, so said Wisden, and who are we to disagree? The Legend that is Alvin Kalicharan was the first man in cricket history to amass 2 World Cup winners’ medals, and now he is joining us as the President of Osterley Cricket Club.

Mr Kalicharan who captained the West Indies in the 70s and early 80s, went on to play county cricket for Warwickshire from 1971 - 1992, followed by a stint in South Africa for the Orange free State and Australia. In all he played first class and international cricket for 20 years, clocking up 56,000 runs.
